Ammonia leak contained quickly at Pilgrim’s Pride facility

GAINESVILLE, GA. — The Gainesville Fire Department responded to reports of an ammonia leak at the Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. poultry processing facility in Gainesville, Ga. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on June 16.


Local media reports said five people were taken to the hospital for treatment following the leak.


A Pilgrim’s Pride spokesperson said the leak was repaired and production at the plant had resumed.
