‘Mark My Words’: Elon Musk Bucks Leading ‘Smart People’ With Warning About Birth Rate

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk warned against the low birth rate, describing it as “one of the biggest risks to civilization.”

“I can’t emphasize this enough, there are not enough people,” Musk told The Wall Street Journal this week. “And I think one of the biggest risks to civilization is the low birth rate and the rapidly declining birth rate.”

“And yet, so many people, including smart people, think that there are too many people in the world and think that the population is growing out of control,” the tech billionaire continued.

“It’s completely the opposite,” Musk asserted. “Please look at the numbers. If people don’t have more children, civilization is going to crumble. Mark my words.”

More and more people are opting out of having children due to fears surrounding climate change alarmism, or other reasons.

As highlighted by CNBC, Morgan Stanley analysts told investors this summer the “movement to not have children owing to fears over climate change is growing and impacting fertility rates quicker than any preceding trend in the field of fertility decline.”

Notably, Democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) during a 2019 Instagram Live questioned if it was ethical to have children over concerns stemming from the so-called “scientific consensus” and climate change. The Daily Wire reported:

Regional governments that cannot give cash incentives offer longer parental leave

BEIJING -- With married couples now permitted a third child in China, the government is pressuring Communist Party members to lead by example, even though many complain that they cannot afford to have more children without cash assistance.

In a December editorial, the party-affiliated China Reports Network said Communist Party members have an obligation to marry and have children to contribute to population growth.

There is no excuse for them to have "only one or two children," the piece also said. Posts on online discussion boards urge party members to walk the walk as well.

Still, the push has met lukewarm response among rank-and-file members. "They can try to force us all they want, but there's nothing we can do without better financial assistance," said a father of one in his mid-30s.

Regional governments are also rolling out programs to help child-rearing families. But with strained finances, most of the country has given up on cash incentives, and instead focused on extending parental leave, a gesture largely dismissed by the public as unhelpful.

China has struggled with declining births after years of limiting couples to one, then two, children. About 12 million babies were born in the country in 2020, down 18% from the year before. The figure continued to fall in 2021...

Abortion is leading cause of death worldwide for third year in a row

By Ryan Foley, The Christian Post

Jan 5, 2022

For the second year in a row, abortions have been the leading cause of death worldwide, with more than three times as many people losing their lives to abortion than the second leading cause of death.

Worldometer, a database that keeps track of statistics on health, the global population and other metrics in real time, determines the number of abortions performed worldwide based on data obtained from the World Health Organization. The last available snapshot of the Worldometer, as it appeared on New Year’s Eve, captured by the internet archive tool The Wayback Machine, revealed that approximately 42.6 million abortions were performed worldwide in 2021.

By contrast, only 13 million people perished of communicable diseases, the second-leading cause of death last year. The other leading causes of death paled in comparison to abortion, with 8.2 million people dying of cancer worldwide, nearly 5 million deaths caused by smoking, approximately 2.5 million alcohol-related deaths, nearly 1.7 million people succumbing to HIV/AIDS, more than 1.3 million people dying in traffic accidents, and nearly 1.1 million suicides worldwide.

Additionally, water-related diseases caused approximately 850,000 deaths, the seasonal flu killed nearly half a million people, nearly 400,000 perished because of malaria, and over 300,000 mothers lost their lives during childbirth last year. A separate set of coronavirus statistics also compiled by Worldometer revealed that 3,524,139 people died with complications from COVID-19 in 2021.

Approximately 58.7 million people died in 2021. That figure does not include those who died from abortion. If abortion as a cause of death was included, the number of deaths last year would have surpassed 100 million...
