Lawmen investigate attack on pregnant hogs

PARKTON — Robeson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of more than 80 unborn pigs.

 

Someone broke into hog houses on Buckhorn Farms on U.S. 301 North and injected several pregnant hogs with some type of medication that caused the hogs to self abort, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

 

Ed Lewis, the farm’s assistant manager, reported that 84 pig fetuses were aborted. Damage was estimated at $1,092. The incident happened between 1 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m. Sunday at the farm on the 24000 block of U.S. 301 North.
